Day 1: Hanoi Arrival
Xin Chào! Welcome to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam and the starting point of your Vietnam–Cambodia adventure!

Upon arrival, you will be warmly greeted at the airport and transferred to your hotel in downtown Hanoi for check-in. The rest of the day is free for you to relax or begin exploring the city at your own pace.

Hanoi, known as one of the most charming and vibrant cities in Asia, beautifully blends a thousand years of history with the dynamic spirit of a modern, fast-growing metropolis. The city is adorned with leafy boulevards lined with French colonial buildings and features the famous Old Quarter—a maze of narrow streets filled with colorful shops, traditional guild houses, ancient temples, markets, cafés, street food stalls, and endless sights, sounds, and aromas.

For an authentic local experience, consider joining residents for morning exercise around the lakes, taking a stroll to observe daily life, or simply relaxing with a café au lait while watching the bustling traffic flow by. If you are here on a weekend, don’t miss the lively night market in the town center.

- Accommodation: Hotel in Hanoi

After breakfast, begin your Hanoi city tour with a morning visit to the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Complex, dedicated to the father of modern Vietnam. The complex includes the Mausoleum, Presidential Palace, and Uncle Ho’s traditional stilt house. Nearby stands the One Pillar Pagoda, an iconic symbol of Hanoi dating back to 1049.

Continue to the ancient Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, followed by the Temple of Literature—the country’s first university, founded in 1076. Here, you will find large stone steles resting on turtle backs, engraved with the names of scholars who passed royal examinations centuries ago.

In the afternoon, explore one of Hanoi’s charming museums, then visit Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple, home to the legend of the sacred giant turtle.

Later, enjoy a leisurely walking tour through the atmospheric Old Quarter—a maze of lively streets filled with endless photo opportunities. Along the way, experience local life as you pass traditional craft shops, markets, food stalls, ancient temples, and historic houses.

Arrive around noon and check in on board. Enjoy lunch as the boat gently cruises deeper into the bay, passing countless limestone formations.

In the afternoon, you may kayak among towering karsts and tranquil waters or take a refreshing swim at one of the secluded beaches.

As the day ends, join a sunset party on deck while the boat heads to its anchorage point for the night.

Its medieval streets, lined with yellow-painted historic houses, ancient temples, and communal halls, were recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1999. Hoi An is also a shopper’s paradise, offering great opportunities for tailor-made clothing and unique souvenirs.

Situated in Central Vietnam, Hue served as the imperial capital and remains an important treasure of the nation’s royal heritage. The city is known not only for its rich history but also for its beautiful natural surroundings.

Your afternoon sightseeing begins with a visit to Thien Mu Pagoda, the oldest pagoda in Hue and one of the city's most iconic landmarks. Here, you will find the seven-story Phuoc Duyen Tower reflected on the Perfume River and a giant bronze bell cast in 1710, said to be audible up to 10 miles away. The site also houses the Austin car once owned by Venerable Thich Quang Duc, who drove it to Saigon in 1963 before self-immolating to protest religious persecution under the Diem government. Continue with a visit to an ancient garden house, originally the residence of a member of the royal family, where you can learn more about Hue’s culture and traditions.

Next, take a walking tour of the Imperial Citadel and the Forbidden City, where the Nguyen Dynasty ruled from 1802 to 1945. An estimated 20,000 people were imprisoned here, tortured, and forced to confess to so-called “revolutionary crimes” before being executed at the nearby Choeung Ek Killing Fields, located 15 km south of Phnom Penh. Visiting Tuol Sleng and Choeung Ek offers a sobering insight into Cambodia’s tragic past under Pol Pot—a difficult but important chapter of history not to be forgotten.

After breakfast at the hotel, embark on a full-day exploration of the Angkor Archaeological Park, beginning with Angkor Thom – The Great City, built in the late 12th century by King Jayavarman VII. Enter through the South Gate along a causeway flanked by rows of devas and asuras pulling giant naga serpents, depicting the famous Hindu myth of the Churning of the Sea of Milk. Inside, marvel at the majestic Bayon Temple, with its 54 towers adorned with countless serene and enigmatic smiling Buddha faces. Explore the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, Elephant Terrace, Terrace of the Leper King, and other remarkable structures.

In the afternoon, visit Ta Prohm, the jungle-covered temple made famous by the movie Tomb Raider. Built in the late 12th to early 13th centuries and originally called Rajavihara, this temple has been left largely unrestored, with enormous fig trees and roots embracing the stone structures—creating a striking impression of nature reclaiming human architecture and offering fantastic photographic opportunities.

Conclude the day at Angkor Wat, one of the most impressive religious monuments in the world and a symbol of the Khmer Empire’s glory. The temple complex consists of two main structures: the temple-mountain with five prominent towers representing the holy peaks of Mount Meru, home of the gods in Hindu mythology, and the galleried temple adorned with extensive bas-reliefs depicting scenes from Hindu epics. Built in the 12th century over more than 30 years of labor, Angkor Wat’s nearly thousand-year-old architecture remains awe-inspiring. The view at sunset is especially magical, with the temple appearing to float against the twilight sky.

In the event of changes after departure due to local circumstances or force majeure, we reserve the right to curtail, alter, extend, or cancel the tour. In such cases, you will not be entitled to compensation or claims for losses arising from these adjustments. Please note that we are not responsible for any incidental expenses you may incur as a result of itinerary changes, such as visas, vaccinations, or non-refundable flights.

14. Authority on tour
Travel Authentic Asia operates our tours through our direct representatives, including tour guides, tour leaders, or trip managers. During the trip, the decisions made by these representatives are final on all matters affecting the safety or well-being of any participant. If you fail to comply with a decision made by the tour guide, tour leader, or trip manager, or interfere with the well-being or mobility of the group, you may be requested to leave the trip immediately, with no right to a refund. You must also comply with the laws, customs, and regulations of the country being visited at all times.

15. Your details
To arrange your travel, you must provide all required details, including your full name (as per passport), date of birth, nationality, passport number, and passport issue and expiry dates. Additionally, please inform us of any specific requirements or special considerations, such as dietary preferences, pre-existing medical conditions, or other relevant information, to ensure we can accommodate your needs effectively.

16. Passport and visas
You are responsible for carrying a valid passport and obtaining all necessary visas, permits, and certificates required for the countries you will visit during your trip. Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the duration of the trip. It is your responsibility to ensure you possess the correct visas, permits, and documentation for your travel. We are not liable for any refusal of entry to a country due to insufficient or incorrect passport, visa, or travel documentation.

17. Travel insurance
Travel insurance is mandatory for all Travel Authentic Asia travelers and must be obtained independently. It is your responsibility to carefully review your insurance policy before traveling to ensure it provides adequate coverage for personal accidents, medical expenses, evacuation and repatriation, baggage loss, and cancellation or curtailment of your trip. Please note that any local travel insurance included in sightseeing tickets at certain sites is limited and does not replace comprehensive travel insurance. Travelers with pre-existing medical conditions must confirm that their chosen insurance policy covers these conditions. If such conditions are not covered, it is understood that the traveler assumes full financial responsibility for any issues or costs arising from treatment or complications related to their pre-existing medical condition. Travel Authentic Asia is not liable for any problems, delays, or expenses resulting from such conditions.

18. Travel documentations
A trip summary is available from your consultant or can be downloaded from our website. These summaries provide useful, detailed information about your tour and destination. We recommend downloading the most current version of the trip summary from our website to ensure you have up-to-date information while traveling. While we make every effort to ensure the accuracy of the information provided in our trip documentation, including brochures, website content, and trip notes, we cannot be held responsible for any errors, omissions, or unintentional misrepresentations that may occur between the information on our website and the journey documentation.

19. Age & Health requirements
For our trips, the minimum age for independent travelers is 18. A lower minimum age applies to family trips, where children must be accompanied by an adult who is responsible for their day-to-day care. While there is no maximum age limit for our trips, it is your responsibility to ensure that you are physically capable of managing and participating in all activities without requiring special care or support from others. You must be healthy enough to take part in the trip’s activities, and we strongly advise seeking proper and detailed medical advice before traveling. We are not responsible for any issues arising from pre-existing or improper health conditions. We will not be liable for any costs, damages, or issues you may suffer as a result, nor will we refund any unused portion of your travel arrangements due to health-related reasons.
